The Elgin Silver Oaks Kalimpong

It was ok. Staff were courteous and nice. Room wasn’t all that great. The restrooms could have been cleaner. Most of our food requests weren’t catered to. Very limited choice.

We loved the room. Large and well appointed. It was comfortable. There was a table fan and heater to suit the weather.

Handling requirements like transport. Both cars we used were rubbish.

Location, rooms and staff service were really good.

The price of the rooms in the property were quite high. And to be honest the room without the nice view of the valley did not seem worth the same price as the room without the view.

The view from garden waa excellent- ypu could enjoy the sunrise from the property itself.

They could have given us a better room. The room was too small and had barely walking g space and charged for the kids bed extra Rs 2500 which was unnecessary for the tourist like us.

Gracious hotel with lots of character and space. Clean and well kept. Beautiful dining room. Well staffed. Employees are eager to help and very kind. Nice terrace .

Excellent service, property is beautiful, clean and so centrally located. Had an outstanding time. We really enjoyed and will be visiting again. They have a great garden and views of the rooms are incredible.

We booked 2 rooms with mountain & garden view but was only offered 1 room with view. Another 1 was in the backyard with only concrete wall behind

Food was below par.Be careful the rooms are way smaller than they appear in photos. In fact I would go this far to say that the rooms are uncomfortably small or dark

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were excellent. The food was delicious.

Simply loved the property. Great location, great decor, awesome stuff courtesy. Overall fabulous.

Bed size is very small. The corner sofa is almost unusable, even to sit comfortably. At this price point we expect at least a bigger sofa inside room to sit comfortably.

Staff, rooms, historicity

The property is beautiful with a really pretty garden, stunning decor, a sense of old world charm and the vibe of the whole place is great. It’s well maintained and extremely picturesque. The staff were polite and prompt. They helped us book cabs on all the days. It was a comfortable stay. There is an adorable dog and some puppies at the moment which made our stay even more amazing.

The breakfast spread was disappointing. When you are booking a property like Elgin it’s normal to expect a more wholesome breakfast. The options were minimal and caters more to a certain kind of tourists. We faced power cut a couple of times specifically in our room every time we turned the heater and the electric kettle on. I suppose it’s a sign of power overload. Maybe needs some attention in this department. But every time we informed the staff they immediately took action and solved it.

The facilities and the hotel in itself was wonderful and cozy.

One side of the hotel rooms have magnificent views of the garden and the mountain.However, the other side faces the road and the wall.Unfortunately, I got the room on the other side that was noisy because of the road and no great view.I would advise guests to confirm if you can get the view first. If not, it could be a huge miss for the price you pay.

This was perhaps one of the most memorable of stays in India and the heritage property is one of the most gorgeos ever. The reception staff, manager, housekeeping staff especially Maya and the restaurant staff were exceptional. The food is very good and since we were at the time of lower occupancy the al lacarte breakfast was beautiful . The lawns and Gazebo are absolutely gorgeous as well.
